Christopher's life

Created by Tracey 3 years ago

Christopher was the youngest child of William and Hilda Ferrey.
He was born in a small cottage in Spring Street Idle.
He had 5 older siblings; Donald being the eldest, then Shirley, Peter, Muriel and Christine.
Christopher spent most of his spare time looking after his beloved pigeons. His pride and joy were his white fan tail ones. He would take them far afield including the dales to release them and pray they would find their way home again.
He was a member of the cubs and when older joined the Boys Brigade where he was taught how to light camp fires. This came in useful because after school he would go home and light the fire so that the house was warm for when the family came home from work.
Christopher was a jack of all trades. His first job was with the Gas Board where he became a qualified gas fitter. At one point he worked up in Scotland when gas was being extracted from the North Sea.
It was during this time that Christopher lived with his sister Shirley and her daughter Jeanette who was 6 years younger than him.
Christopher then changed career's and went to work for the Post Office as a Royal Mail sorter & trainer. Aside from that, he was also a plumber, which always  came in handy in the family home and for  close friends.. Chris had many friends at the Royal Mail and always enjoyed a works night out and banter with his friends & colleagues.

Christopher met his wife Karen in 1979 and then went on to have 2 children Rebekah (the eldest)  and Tracey. He was much loved by his family and friends at work and spent time on family holidays and looking after his family .

Throughout Christopher's life he always put family and others before himself and somehow always  managed to hold everything together throughout. He was a strong , kind and warm person that i know nobody will ever forget.

Unfortunately in Christopher's later years , he suffered with a heart condition and other illnesses, which made his life a struggle for some time.

Christopher is now at peace and will always remain in our hearts.

Please kindly donate to  the British Heart Foundation in honour of Chris Ferrey and his life.

He will always  be remembered and sadly missed . He was the best dad and husband anyone could have wished for

thank you
